The Ask

When Erion Insurance first came to us nearly a decade ago, they were just beginning - two small-town brokerages joining forces under a new name.

What started as a call for social media quickly turned into something bigger: a brand. Insurance is built on trust, and for Erion that trust had to feel local, human, and lasting. We grounded the brand in geography, drawing inspiration from the two Great Lakes that shaped their communities. That became the name itself - Erion - a fusion of Erie and Ontario. A wave-inspired palette and clear, confident wordmark reinforced the connection to place, while neighbourhood-inspired patterns and approachable typography balanced professionalism with warmth. To bring the brand to life, we created Schooner, a loyal canine mascot named after the ships that once sailed those same lakes - a character who embodied the trust and companionship at the heart of Erion’s promise.

The result was more than a logo. It was a full identity system designed to flex across every touchpoint, from signage and business cards to welcome kits and community events. Over time, it became more than just a face for the brokerage, it became a growth tool. As Erion expanded through acquisitions, the brand acted as a unifying banner, giving new brokerages a trusted identity to join and clients a familiar name to rely on. A brand polished enough to compete in a crowded industry, yet personal enough to feel like it belonged at a family barbecue.

Policies are the product, but people are the point.

Insurance is complicated, but Erion’s website couldn’t be. From the start, we designed a digital presence that put understanding before underwriting, making it easy for clients to find the coverage they needed without wading through jargon. Navigation was rethought to strip away the clutter and guide users toward the most important decisions. A clear messaging hierarchy turned dense insurance products into approachable explanations. Calls to action were placed with intention, helping clients not just read about coverage but take the next step toward securing it.

Behind the scenes, we built a custom ExpressionEngine platform tailored to Erion’s needs: secure, fast, and flexible. Staff can publish content quickly, track leads seamlessly, and integrate structured product data that ensures Erion’s offerings appear in AI-driven search. The result is a site that feels simple on the surface while running with enterprise-grade power underneath. More than a digital brochure, the site is a business tool, supporting lead generation, fueling marketing campaigns, and unifying analytics so Erion could measure impact at every step.
